Anatolian Amphorae
Double-Belted Amphora
DA-0106 · Anatolia
Rope-like raised bands circle the body of this tall amphora, which stands between 80 and 100 cm. The three examples pictured are weathered and uneven in tone, and the doubled bands give the surface a strong horizontal rhythm. Made as a storage vessel from Anatolia, it now works as vertical punctuation: beside a doorway, at the end of a hallway or flanking a pool terrace. A pair or a trio gives a measured sense of scale. Each is dispatched within a grouped collection order, and no two are the same.
