Glazed Konya & Avanos Pottery
Avanos Yogurt Jar
DA-1104 · Avanos, Cappadocia
Cream-white and two-handled, with wide open mouths, these jars from Avanos in Cappadocia stand between 20 and 30 cm and take their name from the yogurt they were made to hold. They are newly made by village potters in a heritage form, and are catalogued as current production, not antiques. They work as planters, as kitchen storage or as table vases, and the plain clay colour suits a pale interior. Sold within a grouped collection order; each piece varies.
